Frozen Fish Food

All,

I'm going to be out of town for about 10 days in August. I am planning to have a family member come by and feed the fish. My plan is to cups with a small amount of RO/DI and a cube of food in the fridge. Each cup will be labeled to say which day it should be dumped in he fridge. WIll the frozen food be okay thawed in a specimen cup for that long?

Thanks.

How about breaking up the food into daily portions and individually bagging them up and leaving frozen, then they just pull one bag a day

I could do that. Generally what I do it just grab a cube and put my fingers in the tank, wiggling it around to break it up. My main concern was that I didn't want anyone putting fingers in the tank while I was gone. People wear sunscreen, etc and don't really think about it. Don't want anything getting in while I am away.

the best way to use frozen food is to thaw it out with some tank water and then rinse with RO water using a small net. This will clean out any phosphate and nitrate from the food source.

You can save one of those frozen food cube holder and make your own fish food cubes after you cleaned the food. Dop the cube right next to a tunze pump and it will suck it to it's side and blow out the fish food as the cube thaw.

The food will go bad. Would you eat or feed someone 10 day thawed food. I would saw 2 days max at thawed, refrigerated below 40 degrees.

How about instructions to use a turkey baster to thaw each day's frozen food and water cup. Then pour thawed contents including water into the tank.
