Frozen Food

The mesh to protect trees from deer and other animals is a good place to look (1/2 inch diamond openings). I cut a piece, folded it in an 8 inch by 2.5 inch that was 4 inches on a side, bound up two of the 4 sides with zip ties, and attached it to a clip. I hang it with fish leader (to avoid my clean up crew trying to eat it) after stuffing it with Roggers.

Sounds interesting. I would love to see a pic of this. What fish of yours eat this way?

Nice video. Looks like your fish love it presented this way. I don't think it would work in my situation. My large angels are to aggressive feeders to eat that close together.

As far as frozen goes my angels prefer the Hikari regular mysis over the PE mysis. They always spit out the PE like it's to large and I have many angels over 5". I'm also not a big fan of using a freshwater mysis like PE is. I also use H20 brand #1 & #2 and of course ON Angel Formula. I've had the greatest success by using Hikari spirulina brine to get an initial feeding response from all of my new additions including some notorius finicky eaters.

Not my tanks. I have a Blueface, Emperor, and Scribbled that eat together. Mild posturing. I also have a pair of C. semilarvatus, C. delivis, C. falcula, C. auriga, that eat from the mesh. More posturing here, but since the food lasts a long time, all get their share. But again, I feed other foods multiple times per day, this is only one feeding.

there is a huge difference between Hikari mysis and PE mysis. I use both, but some fish prefer (e.g. leopard wrasses) PE mysis. Also, the water content of Hikari (high) to PE mysis (very low) is considerable.

Hikari is collected from saltwater while PE is collected from freshwater. I wonder if the PE have good nutritional profile for saltwater fish.

You should soak in selcon or equivalent.

Why if I can just use Hikari? It seems like you may be paying more for less with PE if they are not providing proper nutrition for saltwater fish

Also I find if I want to use some type of enrichment like sleco live brine or nori seem pollute the tank less.

Obviously, it is your choice. Some fish will eat PE and not Hikari. I also use nori, blackworms, clams, Roggers, Hikari and PE mysis.

All but anthias and sand dwellers, even my African cleaner wrasse. But remember, this is one of four feedings per day.

For my Anthias, (12 of them), I take the Roggers food and grate it with a cheese grater. This goes into the tank and the Anthais love it!!

As others mentioned, a great food.

I feed PE mysis for one feeding a day and I don't soak in any vitamins. I was under the impression the PE had a pretty complete nutritional profile. Am I wrong? I've had issues with vitamins fouling the water a lot in the past.

PE is pretty good. My comment was more towards a single feeding of only PE mysis. In my personal case, I am not concerned as PE is only in one feeding (combined with hikari) per day out of four.

It's that time of the year and the good doctor is having a 30% discount on most frozen. It's a great time to stock up and he sale price is better than the order I placed back in February 2010.

The prices are for mix % match of 6 or more
SF Angel & Butterfly Diet $2.49/pk
SF Plankton 8.75oz $3.39
SF Mysis 16oz $5.29 (I usually buy a pk at the lfs for $15 to support them but a month ago they charged me $20 for the pack and that will be the last one).
PE Mysis 16oz $18.19

We just did a $600 group buy on frozen food from DFS. The flat packs of most of these foods are HUGE! Nothing like what you get at the LFS.

I order about the same amount and last time it came in 2 boxes. Most of mine are 16oz flat pks except for the 20 Angel & Butterfly diet which I wish they have them in 16oz pks.
