Frustrated and Angry, can you help Marine Depot?

Here's the story, about 4-5 months ago I purchased 2 Tek Elite 6x54W light systems. The first light I bought from Premium Aquatics and was manufactured in April/2010. I received a fan replacement kit roughly a month later sent by Premium Aquatic; without me even requesting or knowing there were issues with the fans.

The second fixture I bought from Marine Depot and had a manufacture date of March, 2010. I did not have any issues with the fans initially. However last month they became extremely loud. I sent Sunlight Supply an e-mail with the issue and serial number for the light. I heard nothing back from them. So, as of 3 days ago, all but one of the fans have stopped completely, and the light fixture is extremely hot to the touch. Again I try to contact Sunlight Supply as the light is still under warranty. I hear nothing from them. Poor customer service all around and I will never buy another one of their products.

I know Marine Depot has no obligation to assist me at this point, however I am reaching out to see if you have a contact person within Sunlight Supply that I can contact in order to resolve this issue.

Thanks,

Jason Clark

Have you attempted to call Sunlight Supply. I call them, quite often, and have always got right through. I call their location, here in WA state.

From what I know, Marine Depot may have to be involved. Since this item is still under Warranty, you may need to return the item, to Sunlight Supply, for warranty repair. If that is the case, since you purchased from Marine Depot, you may need a RAN (Return Authorization Number) from Marine Depot, in order to ship it to Sunlight Supply.

Part of the issue is I do not have a definitive Customer Service number to call Sunlight Supply. My paperwork that came with the light directs me to their website. From there, when you hit the tab to get contact info, it gives you the option to e-mail. When you go to their marine dedicated site, the numbers given are for dealers to contact them (wholesale orders, etc). From what I have heard, the "fan issue" is still being addressed by Sunlight. Apparently they are redesigning the fan grids and the fans themselves, per another sponsor here on RC. The current fan covers are creating a vacuum which slows or completely burns out the fans.

Jason,

Sorry about the troubles you're having with the Tek Light. I've contacted our Sunlight Supply rep for you and as soon as he replies, i'll provide you an update. Would it be ok to forward him your contact info? Please shoot it over via PM so we can take care of this.

Ben
