its great, even better when I added the float switch on the lid to my Apex. I can turn off the skimmer for cleaning by moving the float.
I clean out the skimmer every 2 days, its gets about 1/3 full

Do you think this skimmer would be too big on a 120 gallon with 40 gallon sump? I feed heavy and dose carbon.

1/3 full every 2 days is great. Is your tank 150 gallons? If it is I think the q-3 would be fine on a 120 gallon. I only want to change the cup once a week.

it will also depend on hoe many fish/livestock in your tank. I have a few fish :spin2:, 4 tangs, 3 chromis, 2 antias, 2 blennys, 2 clowns, 2 shrimps and cuc

I think I'll be alright, my fish load is about the same as yours minus a tang. Thanks for the info! I was starting to regret my purchase. Awaiting shipment has never been so nerve wracking.

it also depends if you do wet skimming or dry skimming. Not the ways to tell if your water is too dirty or not by skimmed on the skimmer.
