FS: Candllelight Acro Frags

Unarce

Unshackled
Well, I'm finally ready to distribute some frags of this rare coral. A couple of frags have gone out through John at ExoticReefs and Rommel at UltimateFrags as the Unarce Candlelight Acro. Some may have been lucky enough to receive a piece from Sand Dollar, who distributed it as the Flashlight Coral.

Here are a few pics of the colony:

Here are the frags that I have available:

Frags 1 and 2 are $50, and frags 3, 4, and 5 are $60.

None of the pictures were taken with actinics, so the bright tips are accurately represented. The unusually bright tips are the corals trademark, and show yellow under lower K lighting, and green under higher K lighting. Each frag was clipped several weeks ago, so they're good and hardy.

Please don't hesitate to ask any questions.

Best regards,

Karl

Thats a pretty cool looking coral, Karl.
How hardy is it ?

Thank you! It's good to hear from you, BTW:)

From what I've learned, this was a piece that Tyree distributed about 4 years ago. I had heard it was a difficult piece to care for, and that most of what was distributed of this coral had died. Luckily, Rich and I were able to raise a colony and culture some hardy frags.

What I like most about it, is that the tips stay bright in the lower level spots of a tank. Brightening up those spots where SPS would normally display a darker color. In low light, the body will have a tan color. In intense light, the body will develop a frosted color.

Karl,
I got your piece via Tubs and I put it in the lower portion of my tank (my tank is 24" high) and my lighting is 400 W 20K XM. It maintain the bright yellow tip. Nice acro.

Jesus - I believe the same thing also happened to one of the reefers in Arizona, that received a piece from Rich. Your lights are awesome!

Paul - You'll likely get the frosted body, or maybe even the overall green that Jesus got.

Roy - I had a feeling that was you. Even at the lower level, it'll still light up the bottom of your tank. I love how it works at both ends of the spectrum.

Hey Dude,
My frag is also completely yellow!! This acro is amazing guys! It flouresces like no other!

Sang,

Do you have any pics? It's incredible what you and Jesus got it to do. Does the whole coral glow intensely, or is there still a distinction between the tips and the branches/body?

Karl

I've seen this piece in both Karls old tank and his new one....a stunning piece for sure..
Karl, I've got to replace an acro that I lost durring my salt overdose...can I get frag #2 for pickup at the next meeting?

The yellow/green color is almost uniform on the whole frag. However, it is a bit brighter on the tips. I'll snap a few pics when my lights come on later in the day.

Sang,
What is your lighting and how high up is your frag? It might has to do with lighting. I got a Tub's horrida from Tfp and it becoming floureces green/yellow because I put it on the top with 20K XM 400 watts. Very interesting.

I run the Phoenix bulbs. It really isn't getting a whole lot of light as it's sitting midway in the tank. I wonder how bright it would be if it were at the top?

Here's an update of the commits I have on the frags:

Frag #2: duec22
Frag #4: wongkwp
Frag #5: saj01c

There's a chance I might not be able to make it to the next meeting. I may, however, make a trip to YourReef this Sunday (13th) afternoon. If we could meet then, that would be great!

Regards,

Karl

Karl, I'll be working all weekend, and I need to get put it on my next pay check (had to pay tuition for this semester off this check). If you can't make the meeting I can come out to you on Friday the 18th or some time that weekend if that would work for you.

Dave - I'll make the trip for you and Peter at next weeks meeting. I just won't be able to stay for the whole thing, unfortunately:(
