FS: Fresh, High Dollar CaRx Media

I've decided that growing, trading, and selling SPS is too much work and recently converted my SPS tank to a calcium reactor media farm.

I'm not sure how my new venture is going to be profitable as it involves spending thousands of dollars on SPS frags, growing them out for 3 years, and then letting your tank slowly crash while you travel for work. You then bust up the dead frags and use them for media.

So, if you want to help me with my new venture, you can purchase my high quality reactor media - all freshly made in the past month.

I have dead acros, dead stags, and dead montis of all shapes and varieties - some are over 12" across.

PM me if interested. If I'm slow to respond its because I'm standing in the corner of my equipment room wondering what went wrong.

Damn, not cool man. I hate to hear this. You had the best looking tank in the club IMO.

If theres anything I can help with please dont hesitate to ask!

Maybe we can start back up together. I have let my tank go ever since all the SPS died about 2 months ago. I don't have the energy to try and restart growing again. Cleaning the glass is even too much these days.

This hurts to read. Your tank was beautiful. Let me know if you need any help that I can provide over the phone from kc. :/

OMG!

I can't believe this. We will all help get you started again. I knew something wasn't right when we weren't hearing from you.

Thanks, guys. I'm not as upset about it as you would think - I just couldn't keep up with things only being home for the most part on weekends.

I think there are two primary issues that caused severe algae issues and STN.

1) Water quality - I ignored my TDS last year and was running poor quality water for an undetermined amount of time. I then completely replaced my RODI unit and have been running through DI like crazy. There is something different about my source water - higher TDS and who knows what else that is causing some sort of problem. Bummer because I have the most expensive water on the planet. Anyone else ever had an $800 PER MONTH, yes MONTH, water bill?

2) Parameters and flow - my GEO 618 calcium reactor couldn't keep up so I replaced it with an 818 and fixed a broken regulator but I kept blowing through all my CO2 during the week and couldn't figure out why so my alk was continuously running very low while I was gone.

In any case, I'm actually pretty calm about it and will try and spend time getting the tank cleaned up and will just start over - still SPS only. Some of the SPS are still hanging around so I'll see if I can save them.

I had a $100 water bill once...when I filled my 18,000g swimming pool.

I think I'd call the water company and ask them to justify charging you that much. They've got to have some sort of data to back up the bill. That sounds like you've got a serious leak somewhere and you just don't know it.

Work sucks...you should just quit and stick with improving your reef tank.

Oh, don't tell my company that I said that. That's probably the worst advice a financial planner could give anyone. If they read this, they'll probably fire me.:uzi:

Once you get things stabilized, shoot me a PM. If I have any frags you're interested in, they're yours to help you get back on your feet. I can bring them down the next time I make a trip to my O'Fallon or St. Louis office.

I'll hook you up when you're ready to restart if I don't have a disaster

Thanks, all. I'll get the tank stable and reload.

Also - no leak on my water lines - just an acre of irrigated lawn and an inept city run water company. The rain this summer means I have more water money to divert to corals.
