FS/FT three aqua medic 175w 10,000K bulbs

Well perhaps some may have already saw my post about the bulbs I just bought new...and I honestly 100% did not know that these aqua medic bulbs would not work on a regular m57 ballast...Rather they need the m137 ballast or (european ballast)...

So, Iam really dissapointed because now I can't return them unless i face a 15 % restocking fee and shipping...And I'am also very displeased for I have spent at least $200+ for these three bulbs all for not...

I wanted to do things right this time and buy one of the best brands in the industry and to find out I will not be able to use them just because I have the wrong ballast...

So if anyone wants to buy all three bulbs I'd like to get $180 for them...Since I opened the boxes and tried firing them up for 10 minutes to no avail...I'am willing to take a hit on these bulbs but not so much that that I will regret it...I simply just don't have the funds to buy and or upgrade my MH ballasts to a european m137 ballast at the time...

Or if someone wants only one bulb than I could do $65 each... I'am also open to trades if anybody is interested...(pumps, powerheads, tunzes, other compatiable MH bulbs with m57 ballast, etc...)

I will try to get pics up soon...

-But I hope this serves as a lesson to research, research, and do more research before you buy anything...And i hope nobody does the same dumb mistake that I have done...

-Most certainely I had some dumb mistakes when I first got into the hobby and I'am pretty sure some others have done a few as well...

(other than not putting a sort of clamp on my return tubing under my stand that later would casue water to wet my carpet and stand-luckily I was there....Buying the wrong bulbs would have to be the second biggest mistake that I have done)

Will a PFO ballast work? I run a PFO magnetic ballast. I have run XM and sunburst bulbs for years.

Those are american bulbs ment for standard or electronic ballasts, these bulbs need an m137 or electronic ballast, HTH.

I ran our AB 10K SE bulbs for close to 6 months on a PFO HQI ballast, flawlessly. We only just changed to XMs running on an electronic ballst.

Those AB bulbs run close to $90 each, if memory serves.

EDIT : I just noticed that this was for 175W bulbs.. ours were/are 250W

Those AB bulbs run close to $90 each, if memory serves.

That is why Iam so upset that I can't use them... I really invested in these lamps because i thought I would use them for at least a year until I would buy some new ones...

I wish someone had some brand new bulbs (american ones) that they would trade...But the chances of finding someone is very slim...So I can only sell them at the moment and try to recuperate some of what I have lost and find the right bulbs the second time around...

Good thing I still have another set of backup bulbs for now...then again I don't really have alot of special sps corals...Just your basic lps some softies, some monti's and a anemone that I feed every other couple of weeks...:)

This might sound like a dumb question but how do you know if you have a European ballast in comparison to an American one?

Not dumb at all friend :) Thats just a generalization as far as euro and the US go, but its to generalize bulbs as opposed to ballasts.
If you do a couple of google searches with key words like "pulse start metal halide" or "hqi metal halide" youll see the various bulbs and according ballasts.

if you are able to get the stats or ANSI code off your ballast I should be able to tell you what you got and what can work with what.

Price lowered to $160 for all three bulbs

I don't know what's wrong? I guess nobody needs any new 175 watt bulbs in sactown...Hmm...I will keep waiting..

Well I was not sure if my price was fair...But, it seems that I have only one person interested in one bulb so far...So it looks like 2 bulbs left to get rid of...

So if the sale falls through with the other person than that will leave me two bulbs left...

-meaning for the two bulbs I will be asking $115 for both bulbs... Or $60 a bulb...Or in your case Robert $59 a bulb if that seems to be fair enough for most reefers...and they are aqualine bulbs...It's not like they are some cheap knockoffs...

These are german quality...(LOL!)

OOOOhhh...German...(Hehehe!!!)

:D
