FS:My S.Hadonni and my 2 spawning Black Polymnus Clowns.

Yes, the initials "S.H." for "stichodactyla haddoni" will forever be tatoo'd on the palm of my hand!

I just called my wife at home and she said the anemone is spread out and still in the spot I had put it, and the fish are doing great.

Thanks Sam for chosing to go with me over shipping them up North. These guys are really the "icing on the cake" for this tank!

I'm really itching to get the heck out of work and go home to watch them!

No problem man. Im glad to hear that those are the icing to the tank... Makes me feel reassured that they will be happy.

Im about to set up my Kalkwasser system the way you showed me. Found an old pump attached it to some tubing then to some PVC and that drip adapter from the hardware store. Now Im looking for a decent size container where I can set the pump in and kalkwasser water in.

Your 30g Brute Trash can is re-filled every 2 days for 3 tanks for 600g+ of tank/sump water?? Would like to know that way I can calculate how big of a container Ill need that way I dont have to do it everyday.

Thanks

Sam

Just got home. The family seems happy and content.

BEAUTIFUL! :D

I'll be feeding them in a while at which time I'll make sure the male feeds some to the anemone.

Your estimate is just about spot on. I'd say my total system volume for all three tanks combined is right around 600 total gallons. Each 32 gallon Brute trashcan filled right to the brim is able to easily replace 2 days of evaporation top-off. So I am evaporating about 15 gallons/day between the three tanks. Wow, no wonder I run my a.c. all the time and my electricity bill is over $1,200 per month!!!:eek1: :mad2:

Mind you that not one of my tanks uses a chiller, and I use evaporative cooling techniques to keep temperature below 82F.
So, I use a lot of fans and that certainly leads to more water lost to evaporation than someone who runs a chiller and no fans for example.

Your tank is 100 gallons? If so, and you use fans like I do, then I would say it would be simple math...you would evaporate about 1/6 of what I do. So you could use a 5 gallon bucket to mix/store your kalk and that would theoretically last you two days.

HTH Sam.

Hahaha...Cant believe you managed with no chiller on those monster tanks this summer!

Sweet got an 8g container to fit nicley.

Ill buy some Kalkwasser media tommorow and start mixing. Got my digi ph meter and my Cal/Alk test kits in the mail today.

Thanks

Sam

Hey man, you're in NoHo which isn't far from Simi Valley. You're welcome over any time, seriously.

Besides, I practiced my tank touring skills with Sam and his Dad the other night, so I'm ready!!!

Just don't get any ideas...Sam already stole my heart.

This is my wife who I married in July:

Thanks Salt e.

Yeah, compared to my 12" long vlamingi, the female is a bit dwarfed in comparison.

Too bad you're in Torrance and weren't a little closer, I'd invite you over to check them and my other tanks out.

Take care.
