That pic is from the article that recommends not using those snails(Ilyanassa obsoleta) in your reef.

Those are pest snails and some areas of the west coast have been overrun with billions of those things. They have screwed up local ecosystems. On top of that, half of those snails carry parasites that can give people skin problems.
Is your brother collecting these from the beach? Probably better not to, if he is!
