I'm not disputing the price, but am fairly new to coral and am wondering about the high prices of some coral. For $400, how long will it take for it to grow to a size that will show up in the DT? I personally can't take the risk of spending this much on a small coral and risk losing it. I've seen other coral priced much higher and am curious what determines the price? I do appreciate you specifying that it's dime-size. I have bought some coral sight unseen and been disappointed that they were so small. On another site I found a Flamethrower chalice about the same size of this one for $1000. There is no way I can justify spending that much on something so small.

Most corals with various colors, that are slow growers tend to be more valued since they are a little more unique. Anything that grows like weeds will be treated and viewed that way; for example Xenia. I guess you can consider this a "designer" coral with a specific company's name attached to it. Others you may have heard of is Cornbred; Reef Raft, Jason Fox, AquaSD and it goes on. It's up to a person what kind of tank they want to have. I like unique pieces mixed in with my common ones but a coral is worth only as much as you think it is. I hope this helps. :)
