FS: Strawberry Dottyback $5, Serpent Starfish $5

For sale:

Strawberry Dottyback: This gorgeous purple pseudochromis is approximately 2.25" long. She is fiesty and if added to a smaller tank she ought to be added last. I have kept her for approximately two years. I keep her in an uncovered tank, but she has jumped twice, so you might consider a cover. In recent months, she has begun to burrow. Sale of this fish is CONTINGENT on her capture. $5.

Serpent Star: I purchased this brown serpent star from a local reefer several months ago. She might be 6-8" across from the tips of her arms. When I first obtained her, she kept mostly hidden and moved primarily at night, but gradually she has begun to take a more prominent place in the tank. She eats mysis shrimp and her movements are fascinating to observe. I have kept this starfish for several months and she has never seemed to bother my fish or corals, but to my astonishment, she recently ate a peppermint shrimp, so you ought to consider your stocking carefully before purchase. $5.

I will also consider trades for peppermint shrimp.

Pickup is near Swan and Speedway. PM for details.

My brittle star, AKA the kraken, is about 14" across. It has basically been very well behaved. It did try to eat one of my peppermints, but it was acting sick prior to that. I wonder if your serpent just scavenged an already weakened shrimp. My other peppermint shrimp lives down near the kraken's lair and so far, so good. (I hope I didn't just jinx the little critter.)

The dottyback has found a new home. The serpent star is still available.

This beast could haunt your dreams for the low, low price of just $4.99 (plus a one-cent rehoming fee).

brittle stars are more brittley (if thats a word) and serpents are more smooth looking. I have a serpent that in with about 8 peps and he has never touched them. I find if he eats anything it was already dead. I have never had to remove any dead animals cause he usually beats me to them. Great scavenger and great addition to remove uneaten food. Yours is definetly a serpent(look at how smooth the legs are compared to brittles that are full of brissels.

When I do a google image search for bristle stars, I find mostly bristley arms. That's part of the reason I believed my serpent star was different. It's arms are smooth, like others have suggested.

TV I might be interested in your fine lookin' serpent star. What part of Tucson do live in. I'm out west by Pima West (main).

dcantucson,

I am at Swan/Speedway, but if you can wait either for a suitable weeknight (maybe Tuesday) or until next weekend, I would deliver the starfish in exchange for a tour of your zero edge and rsm.

I work on the Eastside of town Wed.-Sat. and usually drive by the Speedway & Swan area everyday on the way home around 8 p.m. Would any of those days work for you?

Tanque Verde it was very nice to meet you. Thanks so much for the star; it is doing very well in the 150 gallon and seems to feel right at home. I'll take good care of it. Thanks again for the tour of your tanks. They look great. You clearly have mastered this hobby. Congratulations and thanks again.
