Fuge Algae

So i have had a 30 gallon set up for about a month or so now and i did the ac110 mod into a refugium. But right now my ball of chaeto looks alright but my fuge is growing a ridiculous amount of hair algae right now. What i wanted to know was would this be a problem for the display? will the hair algae move into the main tank and take off in there too? What do you guys suggest i do about my situation?

Algae are natrural on the reef. It will remove nutrients that the main tanks hair algae will try and use. Provided nutrients are kept low its better to grow it in the sump than have it grow in the main display. Idealy you want it to out compete the growth in the tank.

I would leave it there and get a good clean up crew eat it from the display if it does grow there.Thats really the key, stability and uptake.

Yeah i have a pretty decent sized clean up crew in there now and they are doing a good job keeping the algae to a minimum. There is only one spot of hair algae on a piece of rock that the cuc hasnt found yet or they have been avoiding.

should i have a clean up crew in the fuge?

I wouldn't recommend it - a refugium should be 100% predator free - a place for anything that wants to grow ;)

The only thing I have to do is scrape coralline algae off the front of the glass. I have never had to clean the glass :D
