Fuge establishment time?

I just set up a refugium/sump in a 20 long for my 75 FOWLR tank. How long until I start to see the benefits of the refugium? I hear they are wonderful for getting rid of the nutrients that cause green and brown algae. I was hoping the chaeto would somehow magically work overnight..LOL. I guess patience is a virtue in this hobby.

It takes a while to get established but in the long run the benefits are well worth it

what is awhile? the same time it takes to cycle a tank initially?

when you see pods everywhere is a good sign that things are beginning, chaeto can go fast or slow, more light usually does the trick done if the tank parameters are good and there are available nutrients for the chaeto
