Fuji's

I haven't heard much about Fuji lately. How's he doing...what's his stock selection like etc.? I know he scaled back his salt side to focus on sushi :D but since I'm not local I'm kinda out of the loop.

He only scaled back his grow out tanks for the most part. He still has 80% or so of his display/sales tanks.

Stock wise he still has a great selection. Some AMAZING looking HUGE Duncans from ORA and some of the biggest Yellow Tangs I've seen in ages.

He also has a couple new sushi rolls that are really good.

Seems to me like he has fewer fish than he used to, but he does still keep them. It was everything I could do not to take home a pair of Black and White misbarred Oscallarius clowns the other day.

He show tank and the shallow frag tank are both looking great. Very healthy looking SPS in both. He also keeps a few nice acan frags but not much in the way of softies at all.

ooooh Acans...really :D
Along with favites, chalices etc they're something I'd really like to get into more but I never knew we had a good source around here.
Occasionally I see some nice pieces down here, but not often, plus they are usually show size with the price tag to match.

From what I'd heard from some in the past I thought he was really running a bare bones operation so I figured the drive wouldn't be worth it. Looks like a road trip to S. Charleston may be in our future.

I'll be looking for a pair of some type soon and I'd be hard pressed to pass that couple up.

I work in South Charleston but haven't been up there in a few weeks i'll try to run in and give a full report. I'd like to try some chalices also if you can find a source.

Fuji's fish stock is nowhere near what it use to be. Pretty much bread and butter stuff. I still stop in for dry goods when passing through.

i fragged some Blue Chalice Frags from my colony 2 months ago, no-one locally seemed to care for them so they went online, Fuji has some good coral everytime im in there, so its worth checking out :)

Legend that's a pretty chalice..where are you in WV?

Usually I wont make the trip to Charleston for a fish unless it's something I just can't get locally, and I'd rather buy down here since I can see them eat etc. but nice corals are a different matter. :D

I for one rarely check the general for sale forums for local items for sale. When they are posted in the local forums such as this, I always take a look :)

yeah most of the people on the sales forum seem to be in California and I don't want to ship that far.

I went to Fujis. Decent amount of common fish, clowns, black clowns, foxfaces, a butterfly (racoon i believe), pajama cards.

He has some nice duncans among other things and he says he will frag anything out of his sps tank.

I've been a customer of Fuji's for years. I mainly dweel in the fowlr as fish are my passion, so i can't tell you much about the coral selection other than everything is beautiful! I will say this however, if you do go to Fuji's and plan on buying anything, make sure you fully check it out. Since he has started cooking, I feel that maybe his fish health has gone down a bit. I do know, that he recently had to completely drain his larger sale tank b/c of disease, the good news is that he cares about his customers enough to do this. He is a great guy, and I also know that he doesn't sale a fish unless it's eating, or he will atleast warn you if it's not before you buy it. If you go to Fuji's try your best to get him out of the kitchen for a chat, you won't regret it.

I was in Fuji's shop yesterday, the fish were all looking great, more coral frags than i've ever seen there. It seems clearing out the tank worked well too, fish in there were looking great as well. (food isn;t bad either) ;)
