Fun little I.D. this Frag Post!

So I am fairly new to the whole reef world, and I am learning so much, I currently mainly keep, Mushrooms, Zoanthids, Soft Coral, and a couple of LPS's.

Yesterday we hit a few local Reef Shops to check out if they had anything cool, one place had some really neat zoanthid frags, some where on plugs and some where loose, we got a few and brought them home to start aclimating. Well my wife while aclimating one of the loose bags of zoanthids, found a chunk of SPS in with the Zoanthids, I kind of figured it was just a dead tip...but she insisted that it seemed alive...So we aclimated it, and chose to mount it on a zoanthid frag. This morning it still has its polyps out, and seems to be doing ok...Now I know just about next to nothing about SPS's...I am guessing its some type of Acropora? Anyone have any ideas of what "type" this could be?

I keep telling myself its probably not going to make it, but it was free...and still alive, so I had to do something with it...and I would love to know what kind it is...

thanks to all those who reply...

Not to be a party pooper, but there is a different forum for SPS identification.

Oh BTW, my work restricts me from seeing the picture, so hopefully someone gives you the answer to your question.

Yes, its a birdnest and I would follow the instructions as others have given you, move it away from the zoanthids asap......

Sorry, I was and am still not aware of that forum, I will keep that in mind next time I ask for SPS identification, again sorry for posting in the wrong forum. I don't keep SPS's so I don't normally visit or "cruise" these forums.

its a pink birdsnest. keep it away from zoos as they may sting it.

thanks for the reply...and I will move it...

Thanks...I will get it moved. I just didnt want to throw it away, as it seemed to still be alive...and that particular Zoanthid plug was the only one that had room, and I didn't at the time think to glue it somewhere else..incase it didn't make it.

Thanks again for everyones reply...and sorry for posting in the wrong forum.

A pink Birdnest, and like others said I would move it so its nor so close to those Zoo's or they will sting it, and probably kill it.
