Fun with heat -- skimming at night only okay?

My nano is starting to have a heat problem since I switched to a skimmer that runs its pump inside the water (as opposed to an external pump). It's an MJ 1200, and the tank is a 5 gallon hex...between the lights and the pumps, temperatures are starting to get uncomfortably high.

My question: is it in any way bad to run the skimmer only at night, once the lights have gone off, to balance the heat load? I'd like to find ways to manage heat that aren't fans, since my office is dry to begin with and running a fan means a lot of evaporation.

the evap off the water would be lie a humidifier for your office, but it depends on your bioload for skimmer

Yeah...I'm not going to use my fishtank to humidify most of a floor of a building.

Bioload isn't bad. I was more wondering if there would be odd problems with cycling the skimmer rather than the more usual constant skimming.
