Fungia - How close is too close?

I have a fungia and an open brain that are 1.5" apart when they are fully expanded. So far there have been no ill affects. Does anyone have experience with this or a similar situation?

Mmm, just be aware that the Fungia is capable of mobility if it feels it will be more comfortable in another spot.
During the day, if they are inflating and there are no issues, then they may be fine. Just keep an eye on them for the next couple weeks and see if anything of consequence happens.
IMO, I would be more worried at night time, after the lights go out. Either one of those two corals may extend sweeper tentacles in spite of the other.

I have an orange plate a couple inches away from an open brain with no problems so far but I keep a close eye on it, that plate in particular likes to roam.

I have heard on more than one occasion that some advise to corral it. Put a few rocks in it's way to encourage it to stay put. You will only have a problem if they touch. Plates have an extremely toxic mucus (as you already know) and could potentially damage your brain. I'd give a little more distance if you could. Mine inch this way and that sometimes one overlaps the other but never leave the general area. Better safe than sorry.

I would take precautions to keep it in place.

I had one about four inches away from a bubble and two inches away from a favia for almost a year. All of a sudden it started to inflate more than usual and move about.

The bubble and favia were lost within days, even though I moved them out of range after i noticed they were being attacked.

I will seperate them or add a barrier, running out of sea bottom. I guess I could frag the fungia or trade for a smaller one. Thanks for the replies.
