Fungia Tissue Damage

Received this ST Plate that has some dead tissue on it. Did a Seachem Coral Dip to disinfect. Noticed last night that my peppermint shrimp were picking at the dead spot. Are they helping clear out dead tissue, or are they being detrimental? Should I isolate it from them?

They may be doing a bit of both. If the recession spreads you will have to remove the infected areas.

If it came to that, would I just cut out the slice of dead tissue, and leave it like that, or would it be better to completely frag it into numerous smaller ones?
