Fungia

I have a small red one that drifts all around my tank. Can I glue this down? Or will it damage the tissue on the bottom?

dude you sure itsa fungia?
Pic??

Ive had some pretty tiny ones, <1", in some moderate to heavy flow and never had one "drift all around".
And the bottom should be all skeleton, no flesh except around the edges.
Smaller ones all usually have the nub from where they broke off the mother...

I wouldnt glue a fungia, they like to "walk" around and find their favorite spot.... but if it finds a spot and stays for a while, you could maybe glue it to some rubble there.

They should be kept flat on the bottom and are adaptable to most lighting/flow....tho the reds like a bit less light than greens

Fungia or plate coral are known to move. Just let it find a spot and be happy. Mine hasnt moved though.

Glueing it will only cause more problems

My plate moved a lot in the beginning but has settled down on the sand bed in a place it seems to like. It's pretty cool to watch it blow up at night and float kind of hover a bit.

As for gluing, I don't like the idea but in one of my LFS's display tanks there is a fairly nice fungia that is glued to a rock and several that are not. The rock that has the glued fungia produces babies like crazy. They have grown 3 nice sized babies off that rock since they glued the coral down and there are 4 or 5 tiny guys in their grow out tank. No babies have come from any of the non-glued fungias (some of which are laying on rocks).
