how do you treat API furan-2?

i read that when they come in those capsules, you mix one of those w/ one cup of water then dip the zoas in that for 15-20 mins 3 days in a row then wait 7 days and repeat treatment as needed.

how about the API brand. they come in that little pouch thing?

yes that is the article i am referring to but they dont really clarifiy how to use the API brad Furan-2. the API one comes in a little pouch thing. and the one they use in that article is the capsules.

use the pouch the same way... I used a 16 oz. plastic cup with RO water (not saltwater but freshwater) and then let them sit in the cup for 20-25 minutes. I treated like 4-5 frags at a time like that. I also did it for 3 days and attempted to do a water change soon after the third day. I was happy with my results! good luck!

rhoptowit, what are you treating your polyps for? I mean, what's the issue you are having?

im not sure, its not zoa pox. but a section of one of my colonies has closed up and hasnt opened for about 2 weeks now. there is what i would say stringy white stuff/film on the polyps that are closed. and they appear to be gettin smaller.

all other colonies are fine. just this one...

Those instructions from Zoaid HAVE to be updated. They are way confusing. First the capsule thing, then the fact that hey mentions RO water through the entire thing, but says:

"PH, Temp, and Salinity Level:
Make sure you match the temp, pH, and salinity level of your RO water to your current tank before the treatment."

If it is fresh RO, then why does it say salinity level??

I just treated a colony for pox with furan-2. I used 1 cup of tank water with 1/2 a packet floating in a baggy in the tank to keep the temp stable. The first time I dipped I used a whole packet and there was a large amount of Furan that never even dissolved. Thats why I only used 1/2 packet for the next 3 dips.

HTH,

Jesse
