im setting up a five gallon tank for a mantis and this is what i have planned so far...and i would like you all to give me some advice on what i have and what i should get...i dont want to do anything wrong

i have the tank, a heater, a filter, and hood with light already....once i set everything up im putting in about an inch and a half of sand and adding some small pvc pipes in there for a burrow.
then im going to order about 7-10 pounds of lr from tbs so if any crabs come as hitchhikers they will be a worthy meal for the mantis...and if a mantis comes as a hitchiker then i dont have to worry about buying one
so far that the basics of what i have planned for the tank.....i want to know if im missing anything and what food to get and how to feed this creature.

tell me what im doing right/wrong and any information or advice would help out a lot

thanks

That sounds fine,rogerwells.

I have 5 mantis in Eclipse tanks varying from 5-12 gallons, and they are all doing great. About the same ratio of LR/LS as you mention. Looks good to me.

the filtration is built into the hood. They dont have the greatest filtration, but with some good LR/LS and decent water movement, they work pretty well for nano reef/fowlr tanks

well i dont really want any corals in with the mantis tank because i dont have any good lighting though....im just sticking with my five gallon that i have had for 2 years
