Fuzzy Dwarf Lion in Reef?

Well, I thought it would be best to console with my fellow reefers on the matter, but I have a possible opprotunity to pickup a fuzzy dwarf lionfish (2-3inch) to my reef tank. What are people's experience with lionfish with corals? I have read that a lot of people have succesfully kept them with corals and I can only assume from that there is a direct coralation between this and how much you feed them. Let me hear your stories guys!

Have not kept a lion since getting back in the hobby with corals, but everything I've read says they won't bother corals. (small fish and shrimp are another matter, though)

I agree with artful-dodger. I have a volitan lion in my 120 reef. No issues with corals, but any shrimp and small fish are fair game. Dwarfs can grow to 5-6" maximum I believe. Just don't plan on keeping any shrimp or any small fish. Snails and crabs should be OK due to their shells.

We saw an intersting presentation at IMAC about the scorpion fish family. Basically, same thing that Gary, husker and Tom said.

 But if you train your lion to eat only damsels, you could make a fortune!

I agree with the above comments. The lion may try any shrimp or small fishes but another consideration is that as the lion gets larger it will produce more waste=need for more water changes!

Yeah, after consideration I like my peppermint shrimp and skunk cleaner way too much :). I think I will be investing in an Anthias. Thanks guys!

I think the reason you were lucky bendavis is because the lionfish is way too slow for the little guys. I remember I had a velvet damsel that was always getting eyed at by my lionfish but he had no chance of catching the damsel.
