FW dip for flukes....

I've read alot about the FW dip, up to 10 minutes, to rid flukes.
They state you can see loads of them after in the water and on the bottom of the vessel with a darker colored bottom.

I am pretty sure I had flukes and ich about the same time. Key word here is had. I think my UV filter helps with this.
I had QT'd in cupramine my prize Royal Blue tang, and now he's doing well.
I also saw some hazy eyes at this time, etc. I had lost many fish during that time as well, all has been good now for months.

My question is, if I need to FW dip a fish,
is it RO/DI water?
RO/DI and cechlorinated?
Tap water?
Tap water dechlorinated?

TIA

IMO, dips are a good way to diagnose some external flukes (there are dozens of types of them), but not a real cure. PraziPro is a very easy way to treat for flukes and I use it on all new fish in QT. Its not expensive, is easy in the fish, and works on both internal and external flukes and other worms. Don't use it at the same time as copper; it decreases its effectiveness. UV may help with with flukes, but (IMO) isn't a cure for any parasite. BTW, was your tang in your DT when he developed ich; or did you cure in QT before he carried ich to your DT?

Yes Mr. Turk,

Thanks for all the good info.

My tang was in the DT, and several other fish had already died, 4 or 5 of them. My prized tang was taken out in put in cupramine in a bucket (my QT)
I had others that made it thru w/o dying, Obriculate cardinal, Goby, mostly. All are well today. That was about 3 months ago.

Thanks to all the other replies as well!
