FW dipping

if I get a new rock with polyps on it and want to dip the coral in FW to remove any pests, what would hapeen to any spoinge growth? Would it immediately die off? Or would it be ok in the long run?

Most people do coral dips with iodine or dips made for corals not pure fw.....

so like lugols dripped ito a cup of tank water?

Ya that would work...I personally have never used it but I here rave reviews about it....gonna pick some up my self.....a friend of mine even uses it in his 1000gal tank to keep everything in check.....

well I periodically add it to my tank as well, so I can easily use it,I just did not want to hurt the black sponge in any way
