FYI: Critter has a Peacok Mantis for sale.

Those are awesome shrimp. Very pretty, and very intelligent. A store I frequented in Florida had one that was very personable - I would definitely like to keep one someday.

I kept a small one that came on some live rock for quite a while. It was very fun to watch. I would stick a piece of shrimp on a stick and put it in front of him and I remember once he hit it so hard it knocked the stick out of my hand!

I remember several years ago the critter had a huge one for sale. It was much bigger than even a peacock. I bet that thing could do some damage if it hit you.

Yea, they can take your fingertip off if they hit you the right way. But once they get to know you they beg like a puppy. They'll even learn to take food from your fingers. There's some youtube videos of people picking theirs up. More cohones than what I have, though.

Saw it friday, and it was 39.99. But you couldn't see him very well, only a actinic bulb was being used. I could be wrong but i didn't see the mottled white spots odontodactylus scyllarus is known for. My guess was its a g. chiragra but like i said the actinic lighting made it hard to see. Only thing I know for sure is that its a 5in smasher.

Great price! I hope somebody picked him up. I've had a few mantis species in the past, and my peacock was the favorite. Perfect size and personality.

It's still here.
