Everbody that wanted one........Atlantis in Fremont has a 2" G. Smithii they just got in, hes still in the bag! They also have 2 3-4" Yellow P. Ciliata's, and a 6-7" L. Maculata.

NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!! Thats the species I was lookin for....and I just picked up a G. Chiragra yesterday. Oh well...

I hear ya, psychodave...I got tired of waiting to find the impossible so I ordered a N. Wennerae. Oh well.

Jeeze Dave, Just go out and pick up another 10g at petclub.... May as well start your collection now. It may be hard to catch up with Dr. Roy and Uriel but you gotta start somewhere.

lol, i actually have 2 10 gallon tanks in my gerage one is for a QT when I get more fish, the other was for a pod farm that ended up crashing...

I would set it up, but it would need to cycle...well I guess If i used cured live rock from one of my other tanks and sand id be ok...hmmmm, perhaps ill set it up at lunch...lol

Then again I already have 3 tanks and im almost out of room...not sure where I would put another. Its very tempting though...

Trust me, I keep trying to figure out where I can set up more tanks too. I also have the WAF to consider. Plus my son is in a wheelchair and has tons of other therapy equipment around so space is severely limited. I've already sent one 10gal to my wife's office.

I think I can fit a couple more tanks in the den/bar but.....

LOL!! I know, ive been eyeing my girlfriends room for the next tank! lol Although my 10 gallon downstairs only has a pacific cleaner and a yellow damsel. As soon as I find out weather or not the pacific cleaner and a coral banded can get along in a 110 gallon i may put the cleaner in the 110 and leave the damsel in the 10 and BAM! New 10 gal mantis tank...already cleared it with the woman too!

I'm sure that in 110g the cleaner will find a place to hang out successfully. If not I'm sure the smithii will be happy to have him...

edit: I keep my peppermint in the sump. When I put my injured clarkii in there he went over and cleaned up her injuries. Worked great.

Fine, Pdave...I shall resist.
I have been wanting a G smithi for a long time, but I must resist until I have my mantis condos up and running...at which point I will give tours perhaps.

I must have one of you more knowledgeable fellows over some time, to tell me what I am doing wrong with the 46 that I just inherited. I have ugly brown algae everywhere...using MH lights. Maybe I should cover the wondow, as it sits near one. Usually not a problem in SF, but it has been unusually sunny recently.

OK...I just called Atlantis and asked what the G Smithi was going for, so that (If they get another one), I can get one through them.

The girl said it was 60 dollars...

For a mantis shrimp...that isn't a L. maculata...

60...dollars...

He's all yours Dave!! Mwuahahaha!

DOH!! LOL
So you have brown algae, eh?
When was the tank set up, when did the cycle finish and what do you have in it? Are you using RO/DI water or tap? Have you checked your perameters lately? Nitrates, Nitrites, Ammonia, Phosphate, silica
When my 110 finished its cycle I got a really bad brown algae bloom...im talkin like a layer that was 6 inches thick...took 90 snails, 90 hermits and 2 green lettuce nudi's, 1 tiger cowrie and a lawn mower blenny 3 days to clean it up.

I noticed that my phosphates were fairly low, .3ppm, but the silica was 2+ppm...once i cleared up the silica i didnt have any more blooms....

im a bit miffed...I got to Atlantis at 7:03 and they close at 7...ggrrrrr Oh well, I have it being held for me and Im picking him up tomorrow

I bought my platy for $40, and it's hardly as cool as a smithii (after watching the escapades of Tim)...I'd pay $20 more for a mantis that I actually see...

I just moved Squirtle into my 15 gal mantis reef. :(
Oh well I may have to call and find out how much their P.Cilliata are going for.
Or see if my LFS can get me one...

Welp I got it! Didnt check to see if it was male or female, its about 2 1/2 inches long and has lots of personality! When I put my finger to the glass it rolls up in a ball, when i move my finger across the glass it follows me. Its diggin a burro right now, grabbin some and tossin it out or digging like a dog. Ive got some pics on my stepbrothers camera in macro mode so hopefully i got some good shots. Ill post some as soon as he emails them to me.
