GAC question....

So im starting to run GAC now, was wondering what the formula is for amount used per gallon of water. im thinking ill use half of what is recommended at first, then at next change out use full since this is a new introduction to the tank.

Heres hopin i can get rid of that bubble algae! blah its my last resort. Large water changes, check. Refugium, check. now all i need is teh GAC and hopefully get this under control. blah TIA

GAC isn't like GFO in the sense that you can overdose it. It's preferable to use smaller amounts with more frequent changes than large amounts changed infrequently.

I use about 3/4 cup in a reactor in my system. Be sure to rinse it well before putting it online. The carbon produces lots of dust that can potentially harm fish.

oh man wow! im talkin about GFO, granular ferric oxide, long night at work. so whats the formula for that?

Start with half the recommended dose; slow flow through the reactor so it doesn't tumble too much.
