Florida Pets has them in their shrimp section. I have never seen or heardf of these before. Do anyone have information on their compatibility, care, etc. They are really neat looking.

They might be referring to Lysmata galapagensis although I can't tell from the image on their site. The Galapagos is in an area of upwelling which means cold water. I wonder if shrimp from this region would survive very well in a tropical reef tank.

I'm glad I found your thread! I was just about to start a Shrimp ID thread. I bought one of these about a month and a half ago as a Peppermint shrimp. I knew it wasn't one, but it was the only one like this in a tank that had like 25-30 peppermints, so I asked for this one. It was cool for about 2 weeks, then disappeared. Tonight, out of the blue, there he was hanging out in a cave with my cleaner shrimp! I am so happy to have him back, hopefully he'll stick around for a while longer this time lol. I don't really know anything about them other than he eats the mysis and spirolina brine that I feed my inhabitants.

No telling what species your shrimp is. Lots of shrimp have that red banding. Good to know that he's doing well even if he is a bit shy. Many crustaceans will disappear while molting as they're very vunerable to predation at the time.

I was wondering if it would be safe for a seahorse tank. I wanted peppermints because they are cheap and they are supposed to be seahorse safe, but ive heard many bad things about them and i dont want to risk it.
