Galaxea refuses brine shrimp

I've had a galaxea for about 2 weeks. Seems happy. Sweeper tentacles galore. I thought they needed plankton and brine shrimp.

When I feed it brine shrimp it hangs on to them for a minute and them let's them loose. Do I really need to feed it brine shrimp.?

Thanks.

Galaxea is photosynthetic just like most LPS. If you have adequate lighting you don't have to feed it at all, but you can. Brine shrimp have very little nutrition and are not really the best food, but I doubt your coral knows that ;) If it doesn't want to eat I wouldn't force the issue. The next time you attempt to feed it try some mysis or cyclopeze.

I never directly feed.

With a galaxea, it isn't one of those corals that I personally wouldn't want to encourage growth since the sweepers require some much clearance from other things.

You do not need to feed this coral, it will pick up what needs from food in the water colum(some you might not be able to see) and will get it from the light. Also these corals have a ton of mouths, my piece which is a 4" by 4" piece has about 20+ mouths that I can see that would be very hard to spot feed. He will be fine and he will catch little pieces that float in the water.

Also I would use different food, that is a little more rich in nutrition...I like Brine shrimp plus.

Mine likes catching some stray mysis floating around the tank during night feeding. Though I dont target feed the colony.
