Does anyone else use Galaxy Hydro Lights? Do you have any success with them? Settings? What are your experience with these lights?

Look like lights specifically for plants.. Mostly red LEDs..
You don't want that unless this is a macro algae tank only..

If you want "low cost" LEDs stick with the ones that are proven around here..
Reefbreeders and Ocean Revive LLC..

I have 6 of them, bought from Amazon.

Build quality is very good- they feel solid and are quite heavy, indicating a decent sized heat sink.

White channel and blue channel are independently controlled via a solid feeling knob. However you can only control to about 20% power then it shuts off.

The lights are quite powerful. At full strength on both channels the light is bright and pleasing, showing off the tank nicely.

With blue only (which I run most of the day) you do get the florescence which is especially noticeable with green and red corals. I think the spectrum is not quite the same as actinic which definitely shows a more pleasing fluorescent effect.

One light is easily about to light a 2" section of tank, perhaps 3".

These lights cannot be directly controlled with APEX. I just set blue and white channels to 100%, then turn on blue all day with intermittent periods of added white.

I also bought the grow light for my chaeto:

This one has no control knob but is also quite bright and well made. The spectrum is much more red because it is intended for plants.

Bottom line- build quality is good, price is great, efficiency is fantastic, but less features than the premium brands. I would not hesitate to recommend these lights to a budget minded reefer, but these lights are bound to disappoint the high end buy-the-best-at-any-cost type of person.

Galaxy hydro lights

I do have the lights myself, but my red planet acro seems to be pale under it. I think maybe I am doing something wrong with the lights. I normally have them run 8 hours a day. In the morning more blue and toward the noon hours I have it up to 70% white and 70% blue, and then the white fades down to just blue in the afternoon. I like the royal blue at night too, they look nice. But I just can't seem to figure out if it is just the setting that I have it on, or if it is the light spectrum that is making my acro pale. I have tried feeding zooplankton and dosing potassium and a supplement from kent marine that has some iron in it. It is still alive, but just not as red and green as it was.

I checked my parameters last night, the acro has not been doing well over a few weeks, so nothing sudden, just seems to be declining and not doing well.
