Hi, i am starting a new 195 reef tank and i was wondering if anyone had input on the GARF Aragocrete sculptures? They have some quite nice pieces. I'm thinking of using a large sculpture along with some LR, LR also in my sump/fuge

I was also wondering about a plenum "Think thats what its called" what are the benefits?

If anyone has used these can you submit pictures? im wondering about the end quality opposed to a LR only reef

My thoughts are it is more trouble than it's worth..took forever to cure it and has now begun to break down. You can get some nice shapes but the more intricate ones have broken 3 years later..hth

Thanks!, that seems to be the consensus of everyone else posting about them... Dang!! they can make some NICE looks

What if i do something similar to this ?

Using aragocrete for a cover?

I'd suggest buying some dry baserock. It is a lot cheaper. You can get it from Tampa Bay Saltwater and anyplace that orders CaribSea stuff. Cheaper and very nice looking.

There are a lot of books that cover the use of plenums, I haven't seen anyone with one recently though. I don't now if there is any issues with them other than the amount of space they require.
