umm i cant say for 100% but i dont know if the pictures or what but i dont think either of those is a garf bonsai. i have one that came straight from garf and know people that have it and none of them look like yours. there all a real rich purple and neon green polyps. none of that green shade toward bottoms. all nice purple color

I think they both had neon green polyps at one point. I had an issue with red bugs and already got rid of them all, just waiting for the polyps to start coming out again. I'll take another pick tomorrow when the lights come on again.

Thanks!

valida is the second picture. The stalk is lighter. I do believe they both have green polyps as well.

I agree with nano reefer, I don't think either of the two are bonsais. The garf bonsai seems to have a smoother skin and coralite structure. Even if the corals turn brown, the polyps still remain bright green.

yea now that its day and got a good look at mine and looked on local forum to see some of my friends. thats not a garf. the base isnt growing right on either and even when there browned out little frags the polyps are still bright green. still very nice pieces though

Ok, so they're both validas. I bought them for $20 each, one as a ORA valida and the other as an ORA garf bonsai from a LSF that carries all ORA. Was that a good deal or did I get ripped off...?

I got my tri color valida frag off the $20 rack and of course same frag from ORA with official ORA plug will cost at least twice that. That price alone was a pretty good give away it wasn't a GARF (LFS dont usually sell them that cheap, its one of those money maker cut up and price frags by the inch corals). Tri color valida's on the other hand are probably one of the most common hobby acro's due to price, color and extremely fast growth rates.
