Garibaldi Damsel fish

I am interested in this fish and have read all the information in books I could find. What I'm looking for is personal experience. Good or bad.. I would like to hear it all. Will this fish get along with 6 inch clowns, a shoal of blue chromis or yellow tailed damsels?

I am doing the research first... my plan is to turn my 120g into a damsel fish/ anemone tank. Right now all I have is two clownfish in there and I'm getting quite bored with it. So I think okay, I'll get some damsels..I am told they should be smart enough to avoid my two very large anemones.

In short.

The majority are collected illegally.
They are temperate water fish.
They will smash most other fish in the tank.
They grow big and mean.

Give them a miss.

What Massman said. They are beautiful but just nasty and I dont think a 120 is nearly big enough.

They look like a red devil, and have a attitude from hell. I do see them once in a while in a lfs i visit. I would pass. I dont think they would let anything live in a 125 with them.

We have really great looking huge adult Garibaldis that grew from juveniles...at 60 degrees. They will not live long in tropical tanks.

I just don't understand why people even collect/sell this fish. Male sheepshead wrasse are pretty neat looking, how about some of those for sale at your LFS? Oh, wolf eels are pretty neat too! ;0

No but that lfs has some Potamotrygon leopoldi pups FS. Captive bred.
The parents are a few feet away in a show tank. If i wanted something rare thats what i would get.

Thanks all, going to pass on this fish I saw that bluezooaquatics had some. I guess some vendors are lying that they are peaceful with other tank mates and that a 70 gallon is big enough for them. They also don't even mention these are cold water fish . I am glad I asked still going to get blue reef chromis and maybe some yellow tails. Thanks again

Try some alleni damsels or yellow belly damsels. Way more peacefull. IMO
They are still damsels though.
