i read on here that garlic extract works can you add it to your whole tank or in a med tank? well what i mean to ask is how do you treat ich because i have never had it in a tank and now my yellow tail tang has it and will it spread to other fish? and i also have a turbo twist uv sterolizer and i thought i couldnt get ich.

I think garlic as a form of medication is a bad idea. To combat ich, it's best to use either hyposalinity or some form of copper treatment (not both). From what I've read, garlic might help prevent a fish getting ich, but does nothing for fish that already have it. It's entirely possible (and likely in my opinion) that garlic doesn't really do anything to prevent/cure ich.

Your UV sterilizer should help with ich, but won't entirely prevent it. Ich will almost definitely spread to your other fish. Do you have a quarantine tank? Does your fish tank have invertebrates in it, or just fish? If it's just fish, you can treat that tank with either hypo or copper. Both treatments will kill invertebrates, though.

Garlic has absolutely no documented benefits for fighting or preventing ich-NONE. A QT tank and hyposalinity of 1.009SG for 4-6 weeks will kill the ich but you must leave your main tank fallow(fishless) for that same time period for all of the ich to die off. Without fish, ich cannot live.

Ive have always used fresh garlic from the supermarket chopped it up and mixed it with the fishes food. its cheap and it works

i did a fresh water dip, i was told to do so and i did but my dori still has it and i dont know if its gonnago away or spread to other fish

Fresh water dips will only irritate the already irritated fish and what happens when the fish is put back into the main display? The ich is still in the display, right? The fish will continue to feel the effects of the ich as they reattach to the fish.

Formalin is not a recognized treatment for marine Ich. I have no data on whether formalin added to the tank water for an extended period will cure marine ich. It will, however, kill many inverts and suppress bio filtration, so your fish will shortly be swimming in a toxic soup. I know from experience that a standard formalin bath will not kill all the Ich parasites on a fish.
