Garlic???

So many people enriche their fish food with garlic either religiously or every now and then - right?? My understanding is that it enhances the immune system of the fish, thereby making them more resistant to disease and parasites.

My question is this: Does the garlic itsself actually benefit the fish in any way or does the garlic merely act as an attractant which will encourage fish to eat more readily - thereby increasing their overall health and resistance to disease??

Garlic "juice" has an antibiotic chemical in it. Won't do much for parasites/etc., just for infections.

Definitely improves appetite; the rest is anecdotal.
Also subjective. It seems to be a personal thing. Some fish LOVE it, and some fish hate it. My G. melanospilos is a pig, but when I soak the food in garlic she's disinterested. I've heard similar reports from others.

Definitely worth a try for finicky or stressed fish.
