Go to Target and look in the cookware section for a silicone baking sheet. You can cut it to make a custom-sized gasket for your flange. I have used them and they work well IME

Exactly. Got mine in a real spiffy blue color! :D

Yeah, 95% of my internet bandwidth goes to RC.com

Be careful of using silicone. Silicone will break down in a Co2 rich invironment over time. Currently I'm using some Shelf liner also known as antiskid or slide sheet for tool boxes. As long as there is sufficiant surface area it should hold tight for a CA reactor. I've been running it on my new Ca reactor for about 2 weeks no leaks yet.

Thats good to know quikenuff... Im using it on a DIY carbon reactor now, but have it on my DIY calcium reactor too. I will have to watch it.

From what I have seen with the carbon reactor, there isnt much of it that comes in contact with the water.

Watch for the silicone to become harder and brittle. With such a small area actually coming into contact with the CO2 it might take many months or years to notice a change in texture.

In the carbon reactor it would be fine for a very long time. Really an O-ring made of a rubber or poly based substance is ideal but not always practical for the DIYer.

Ohh by the way nice work on the reactor. Does the disfusser plate come out? Something to think about as media disolves and settles in the reactor.

MeuserReef how long have you had it on your ca reactor

My CA Reactor is not yet in service. The silicone on the carbon reactor has been in use since October and is still in great shape.

You can get gaskets at a tru value hardware store or ace hardware store. They are orange and you can cut them to size. Home Depot might have them also.

Thank you sir !
I have been using silicone every time I cleaned my skimmer because I couldn't find odd size gaskets or the right material cheap enough to make them. I wanted to use something very ply able, and easily form fitting so I wouldn't have to exert to much force on the nuts and bolts This is GENIUS ! These things are just what the doctor order for the odd size flat type gasket. O-rings are a pain the patooty to cut out for unless you have a lathe.
Thanks !

i think i will try to find rubber first then the silicone baking mat.

thanks for the kind words about my build, yes it will be able to come fulley apart their is still a lot of work to bee done on it i will start a thread soon.

oh yea thanks for the link Daemonfly i just hate to order one thing and pay shipping. but I guess with the price for gas I could do all my shopping and have it shipped for cheaper than the fuel cost of a single trip

hey rob good job man! check out delta rubber near Slakey bros off of cherokee on the west side of 99 they may have some type of gasket material. i was thinking of making some of my own out of Compressor gasket material but i wasnt sure of the break down over time.

My local ace hardware has rubber sheets availible for gasket material. Its in the plumbing section for me.
