Gate Valve mod question

This may sound stupid, but I'm not sure how I'm supposed to attach it to my skimmer.

I bought the parts that I was told to, 1 90', 1 T, 1 1.5" Gate Valve, and some 1.5" PVC which has been cut into 3 smaller pieces.

My skimmer is a ER CS-180, but I cant figure out how to get the mod on it, the output where the riser pipe is seems to have a rim which is larger than the opening on the 90'. Am I supposed to cut this off?

Any help is appreciated.

since most people like me dont know what you are going on about why dont you give some back ground info on the mod

I understand your issue but have not seen the ER mod specifically - your riser pipe (the one you used to slide up and down) could be what fits into the 90 - this is how it was on my ASM - don't know about the ER CS-180

This is how mine is set up on my RS 8-3 but the slide tube is 1-1/4 not 1-1/2. You will probably need a reducer bushing to make it work.
