If there was so much profit in it I'd expect to never see the owner in the store but instead see them both opening and closing.
Once it becomes a business it's a rare person that keeps it as a hobby. For the most part the two are not compatable. That's why they call it "work" and "hobby".
Without some items with 300% + markups brick and mortar just doesn't work in this business IMO. You gotta cover the losses somehow someway. I know a few stores that have done well for themselves long term and everyone here would call them ripoffs due to pricing.
