Gauging interest: T5 URI super actinic bulbs

The wait for a URI super actinic T5 bulb seems to be almost over! According to the mfg, this bulb should be able to replicate the popular URI VHO actinic spectrum.

I spoke with Greg at Reefgeek.com, and they will be carrying these bulbs, and their pricing will be available next week. Any interest in placing an order for URI super actinic bulbs? Or any bulbs, for that matter, we can get 10% discount (depending on volume). Local pickup from them is available.

I need 54W bulbs: 1 GE 6500, 2 DD aquablue, 2 DD Blue+, 3 URI SuperActinics.

I was planning on the following for a 4 48" bulb T5 arrangement:

2 Aqua Blue
2 Blue+ or 1 Blue+ & 1 GE (Sun)

How do you suggest employing the super actinics?


Also, can we widen the scope of this buy to include other T5 gear?

For example:
IceCap 660 Ballasts
IceCap Reflectors
End Caps
Stand-offs

I'm looking to buy it all.

Great to hear there is some interest! I hope I can answer some of these questions, if not I'll forward them to reefgeek. But I am pretty sure Greg will work with us, it also appears there will be some volume to the order. As I understand, the discount applies to orders of at least 6 units for a certain bulb type/size. Any bulb from their website is available for the buy, the URIs are not listed yet, but he expects to have them in soon.

For example, if the total order is for 10x 48" URI/SA, 6x 39" Aquablue, and 2x 24" URI/SA, we would get discount prices on all of them except for the 2x 24" URIs. But then, depending on what the total is, I can ask him what he can do.

I did not ask about the other hardware, but I don't see why that would not be available. For now, feel free to list what you are interested in, and I can find out what the discount is on the hardware as well.

I use the DD bulbs right now, and they are great. But replacement bulbs are way overdue. Greg also checked my last order, and it shows by bulbs were bought in Jan'05. No wonder why my blue bulbs seem to have lost the "kick" on them. But after 15+ months, my aquablues are still going strong.

The URI bulbs are supposed to be another actinic bulb, very well liked in the hobby, even to date. The T5 version is supposed to match the spectrum of the VHO super actinics. I am planning to use these mixed with the DD blue+.

Will 80W T5 URI super actinics be available? Are there any infos on URI super actinics? Would be intersted in getting 4 if available. Plus some aquablues and blue pluses.

not yet. According to IC, URI/UVL may or may not make 80w bulbs.

complete hoods exist as well as complete 48" retrofits as well as of course DIY retrofits.

then there are Icecap and SLS DIY retrofit kits forany length

It is not the size of the tank, it is what inside the tank that matters. And yours are packed with eye candy!
