Gauging interest: T5 URI super actinic bulbs

i am in for 6 URI super actinic T5 bulbs .. is there a price on them yet and are we going to have a date for the order?... i am in for others T5 bulbs as well but i need to see how my funds are before i commit to this order as chuck out is wipping me out this month..

Gabriel, sorry I don't have pricing from them yet, they expect to have it by next week. At this point, they are estimating the prices to be very competitive to the DDs. From that, we can set a deadline for the order date, the sooner the better
What did you get from Chuck?

I noticed that PremiumAquatics.com is advertising the new bulbs.

"They are expected around the 3rd or 4th week of May."


Even if we order from reefgeek, it should give you some idea on pricing ($22 for a 48" 54W).

Yep, I saw that PA had the URIs listed, but I found strange that any bulb/size were the same price @ 21.95

Reefgeek has updated their site with the URI bulbs. Same price as PA, 21.95 each no matter what size?

Here is a list of what I have so far, please check to see if it is correct, or what needs to be updated.

Hmm.. Since we're talking about t5s, I have a question for you all. I just bought a used tek retrofit setup. The bulbs are 24". I have a 22 gallon tank. Would this be enough light for SPS and clams? I was thinking about just reselling it and paying more to get an icecap retro but didn't know if it'd be worth the price diff.

Also, it came with 2 light blue bulbs. What are the differences between them and the new bulbs you all are talking about? If there's a significant diff, then I may be interested in 2 of the URIs as well.

After thinking it over, I think I can always add addition 2 shorter bulbs for my 6' tank. Because after all, who can pass on URI super actinic T5s. So put me down for 4 x 39W super actinics, if you will.

If your talking 2 bulbs over a 22g then no, its not enough. If you have 4 bulbs then yes. I have 8 bulbs over a 55g, that to me is the best setup right now for sps color and growth that I have found. I switched from 3 hqi 150DE's
