Gauging Interest

I just want to see in any of you would be interested in doing a miscellaneous Group Buy at saltwaterfish.com. No specific items or livestock, just one purchase split between several people which would be large enough to be eligible for free shipping.

I’m suggesting saltwaterfish.com because I have a credit there that I need to use but don’t need so much as to purchase their minimum requirement. I picked up a few Green Ricordeas from them previously, which were very nice, and plan to pick up a few more this time around, among a few other things.

Since we’re all pretty local to one another, I thought an order like this might be feasible. I could set up a PayPal Account for those interested, and we split all costs according to each participants order. We could then meet somewhere centrally located immediately after delivery to distribute what was ordered.

Anyway, I just wanted to see how many, if any, people would be interested in doing something like this. And don’t worry, I’m not going to go running off with your money, I work at California State University, Sacramento, in the Office of Institutional Research, so I’m pretty easy to track down if you chose to do so. I’m not looking to rip people off, I’m just looking to reduce the overall cost of my purchases as much as possible. And if I can help others by differing shipping and container costs at the same time, then why not.

If you’re interested, let me know!

Really?

Really?

Wow, not one person is interested in a Group Buy? I must say that I'm surprised. I mean, if it would make people more comfortable we can find an alternative means of gathering payment, I just suggested PayPal because it was both easy and well known. But I'm open to suggestions.

I just thought that others might be interested in saving money, and a group purchase seemed like a good way to go about it. Because let's face it, the shipping costs that online sellers charge can be a little ridiculous at times, so I always try to get as much for my money as possible. And that's all that I'm trying to do here as well.

Like I said, I have a credit that I have to use at that place, so I'll eventually have to make a purchase there one way or another. I was just hoping to make it a little more reasonable for all invovled, that's it. No devious intentions or sinister plots. Just a frugal reefer trying to stretch his dollar to its limits.

But, if you're interested, hit me up with a PM and maybe we can work something out that would be mutually beneficial.

I can also be found on Nano-Reef.com and Reefs.org under the same name (shiveley).

Thanks!

Shively,

I typically only order dry goods and some supplements from time to time from this website. Let me check to see if I need anything more when I get home this evening. Not a big fan of their coral selection - or in most cases the lack thereof.

Yeah, I hear ya, but they do always have nice Green Ricordeas for a great price, and they usually have a decent selection of inverts and fish in stock. I'm planning on picking up some rics, and maybe some cerith and/or astrea snails, a fighting conch, and maybe a bi-colored blenny

Mostly I need a small CUC for my quarantine tank, but the rics are for my main display. I'm a big fan of the shrooms...

Oh, and by the way, I just noticed that they got a shipment in today, I had asked to be notified by email when Red and Purple Bullseye Mushrooms were available, and evidently they both just came in, along with some zoas and other stuff. So that's cool for me atleast.

Thanks anyway, but I placed my order...

Thanks anyway, but I placed my order...

They got some shrooms in today, so I just bit the bullet and placed my order. I got a colony of Green Fuzzy Mushrooms, a colony of Red Mushrooms, 4 Green Rics, and one Umbrella shroom.

As a bonus they threw in two free emerald crabs (that should help clean my quarantine tank for a now).

so, thanks anyway...maybe we can work something out next time!

If you had posted a few weeks ago, I would have gone in with ya. I placed an order from saltwaterfish.com for 2 boxer crabs (which RULE!). and some other misc. stuff. Next time I'll post a thread like this and save on some shipping. Great idea! :)
