Hiya

I notice that my GBTA is open all night but during the day when the lights are on it closes down and only re-opens to half of its full size...i have a RBTA that stays open normally during the day why would this be?

thanks

Elliott

How long have you had it? What type of lights do you have? Is the GBTA closer to the top of the tank then the RBTA? Photo period?

It sounds like it is getting enough or to much light so it is limiting it's zooanthellae to the light.

Hiya its under the stock 72 watts of PC in a nanocube 24 but i also added another 50 watts of T5 to the lighting system ive had the anemone for a week..would it still be settling down? the RBTA is at the same level in the tank as the GBTA and opens as normal..the GBTA is hosted by 2 Wild PNG Perc Clowns

Thanks

Elliott

Yes, it could still be settling. You also greatly increased the lighting as 50w of T5 is brighter then 72w of PC so it will take a week or so for the anemone to adjust. When increasing light or installing new bulbs you want to lower the photo period by an hour or two and then slowly bring it back up over a week or two.

Are the percs rough on it at all? It could expand during the night when the clowns are resting and when the lights come it could retract some from them being more active and poking at it.

Maybe thats why the RBTA that is unhosted stays open??? if so does that mean i need to find my clowns a new maybe bigger anemone

How big are the anemone and clowns now? The BTA will grow fast so I think in time it will be big enough. Pics would be nice.

That should be a big enough anemone for them. I would give it a couple of weeks to adjust to the new lights before making any changes.
