GBTA "Leg"

Hey guys,

I just have a quick question. On bubble tip anemones I have noticed that some have a short and thick "leg" while others have a long and thin "leg". Also, I've noticed that often the more the "leg" is stretched, the longer and thinner it will be. What causes a bubble tip anemone to have a short and thick vs. a long and thin "leg"?

When a BTA is trying to get more light or stretch out of a crevice it will stretch and it's "leg" will appear long and thin. They can change this based on what position they are in and it's surroundings (i.e. rocks, lighting).

Alright, that's what I thought; thanks for the reply! Another thing though, at my LFS, they have a beatiful tank, and it must be around a 200 gallon or so. On top sits three metal halides, not sure, but mostly 3x250 watt halides. These bubble tip anemones are about half way up the tank, or more, and they still "stretch"out to get light. I would find it weird for them to need to stretch to get more light under this type of lighting. Also, if the anemone is not "stretching" out its leg, does this normally mean that they are getting enough light as is? Will someone enlighten me?
