Gear for 3x2x2 Tank

Hello

I have a 3x2x2 tank, and I am looking at getting a tunze stream for it. Currently I have a dodgy 3500lph powerhead in there, that seems to do the job but is noisy, goes through 40w of power, and sometimes dosent restart after a power failure.

Here are pics of the tank and rockwork.

I am looking at placing the stream on the weir wall similar to where I have my current pump. I will probally have to have it a bit lower to stop it sucking in bubbles, and then have it bast against the wall and have the water go around the tank that way.

I am looking at a 6000 stream which has speed control (2500 - 8500lph) as I think a 6060 (6000lph) or 6080 (8500lph) are too much flow and will stir up my 1inch sand bed.

The only problem is that the controlable one is pretty expensive compared to the 6060 and 6080. Are there any other options besides the 6000 speed contol model ? Also, do you have a pic of the speed control module for these ? is there any other options on it besides just a dial for speed control, ie, pulsing or something like that ?

Thanks

Ben

Also

Does the 6000 stream actually come with the control box to vary the speed, or do I have to buy this as well ?

Thanks

Ben

A 6000 would be the best, with a controller in the US they sell for about $300 but to be fair to your dealer their Australia is a more expensive market due to transport and he has to rewire them for your plugs. I hope that we get that resolved soon so he doesn't have to do that anymore, it takes several minutes per pump. Unfortunately Australia isn't a large enough market to warrant a seperate production series. Anyway, it will likely cost a bit more for you. The kit with the controller is called TS07 and with this set you can pulse the pump and you have a food timer that stops the pump for a few minutes. I think you will find it is worth it and likely that it isn't too much even near full power.

The 6060 and 6080 do not have any control options. If you get a 6000 you will be happy you spent the money, trust me. The 6060 and 6080 are great for fish tanks and more basic set ups and too add some supplemental flow.

On the 6000 you can control the speed but that is all. To make the pump pulse you need the controller. Their is a simple rheostat on the driver that can control speed. The TS07 is a 6000 with a Single Controller 7091. FWIW I don't make a dime off anyone in Australia so I think you should trust me :D

Ok, thanks

I will just now have to deceide if I want to just get the 6000 with the dial an have it set at one speed, form 30 - 100%

OR pay the extra and get the TS7 Kit, with the foodtimer, and pulse functions.

I could always get the 6000 pump and then add the single controller later on.

So the TS7 kit comes with the 6000 pump, the dial speed control, and also the single controller. so I can wind the dial to say 70%, and then pulse from 30 - 70% all day long ?

Thanks

Yes. And yes you can always buy them seperate. You can pulse from 50-100 or 30-50 or whatever you want to do.

I think I will go for a TS7 Kit,

In regards to the controller, and the pulse, what kind of durations can I set the pulse to. ie, can I have it pulse 100% for 3 secs, and then 40% flow for 10secs ? I just want to know how programmable it is

Ben

Their is only one time setting that ranges fromn 1-7 seconds. So, it would be 3sec at 30-100% and then 3sec at the next setting from 30-100%. If you get the optional photocell, it will turn to the second (lower) knob speed for the duration of the night. The foodtimer button stops the pump for 5 minutes to feed.
