Steve, I'm willing to bet that cartoon goes over the head of all but the most geeky of us! I'm printing it out now to put on the wall of my cubical!

hehe... The sad part to me is that I have actually set up honeypots like that with virtual machines for forensic analysis and IDS pattern recognition testing. That was a little closer to home ;)

See the computers are like a group of anemones. The viruses he is descibing are spreading from one computer to another like clownfish would when very young. Some would get stronger and some would get sick. Some would even fight. They all develop personalities based on their characteristics.

The proud botmaster can easily check on any of his slave computers to see how they are doing and what viruses, et al have spread to each one. Almost like a living organism being infected piece by piece.

To a cyber geek it is almost like creating a new life and watching it grow.

Should I be concerned that I have actually set my alarm in 2 hour intervals throughout the night so I can go check on my cyber-virus hatchlings? With certain random pattern and unpredicted interactions between code, these things can take on a life all their own. Like our tanks be characteristically different from the next, so too can a virtual network with this type of code running unabated.

Yes, I am MrMikeB and I have major geek issues... :D

AAHAHA! SU (SUDO)is a UNIX command that allows users to run as other entities or accounts, so the pun is that he is telling himself.... oh nevermind. :)

It was mentioned that the cartoon might go above the heads of only the geekiest. I do think that 90% of reefers seem to list there job as IT though.

Mike what did your girlfriend think of those 2 hr intervals:bum:

Haaaa!!! She already complains I wake her up throughout the night anyhow, although I never remember any of it. Such is my luck, eh? ;)
