Anyone know how much a 1.5 inch specimen is worth?

Worth? That's a loaded question. But retail on that would be in excess of $2500.

I can pick one up that size for $1500 from my buddy. Just debating it. They do seem much more available lately.

Gems are amazing and worth the price if you can afford it at the time. I just bought a baby Clarion and will eventually have a Gem to join the display along with my Black and Fowerli Tang. If I had the money I'd have masked angels too, but I doubt I'll ever be able to pay that much.

Everyone has an opinion and for me, I like things I can't drive down the street to see at the fish store.

I've seen a few in person at shops now. I'm not paying the stores rent for three months at 4500$ for one fish. Lol they can keep it as a mascot until they kill it and claim they sold it. I'm not changing my view until someone shows me their full potential. Then I would think about one. Even 1500$ the person is making some loot. Most reasonable retail price I've seen. That might be around a reasonable 30% markup. If it's a sweet one.

I love them, but have neither the funds (nor the tank!) to have one at the moment. Beautiful fish though if you ask me...I agree with those saying it's worth it if it's worth it to *you*.

Well if he did. ... 1500$ wholesale. Seems steep, but anyways. He probably has access to meds for wholesale too. Throw him a few hundred to treat it. Seems the right thing to do. So he can make a few bucks. 1000$ wholesale seems more legit though. One of the wholesalers had some marked at 1600$ and said last of the year. Then marked them down to 1100$. Then a couple weeks later got more and marked them at 1600$ again.

they are very nice but i dont think any fish is worth 4k.. then again i dont have that type of money im sure if i did though 4k would be worth it
