Gen-X PCX-30 pump opinions

I am looking for a closed loop pump on my 75 gallon and was wondering what the opinions are on this pump?

Yeah, mine is noisey as well. Wished I had done some research before I purchased it but oh well. I think I'm going to have to try something like the velocity pumps for my next purchase. I know that its going to put a little heat in the water but I'd rather have that than listen to my gen-x.

Yeah, the velocity pumps are dead silent. I had to get rid of mine though due to the heat issues. My Iwaki w/ Japanese motor is pretty darn quiet.

I have a Gen-X pcx40, one word, loud. Get something else, unless the pump will be in a different room.

Maybe I'll stick with my original choice of a Pan World pump. Whats wrong with the american motor Iwaki's? I've never ran an external pump so I am looking for as much info as possible.

The two American motor Iwakis I had were louder than the Japanese moror one I had. This is based on my own experience only. All three were used also.

I have been looking for an external pump for my 180, and it looks like I am going with the Pan World. I got good responses on my thread about these pumps...

Is there a difference between the old green gen-x pumps and the newer blue colored ones?
