Genesis Renew RO tubing

Well.. I do not have it but see they have a requirement that you need to move at least 1 gallon per minute through the containers

Just get the 1/2" and 5/8" tubing as specified.. Its cheap and readily available anywhere..

rghh.. I know I know...my issue is that I can't mount this system anywhere near the tank and I already have 5 RO/DI 1/4" tubes running to my saltwater supply tank from the DT/Sump area.

The run would be about 35 feet from the mount spot to the DT/Sump area.

So here it is....I've ran everything from the garage where my RO reservoir and fresh saltwater reservoir are to the DT/sump through my crawl space and up the wall.
So, when I mount the genesis system in the garage next to the saltwater reservoir then let gravity fill the sump, a portion will remain in tubes under the house in the crawl where it goes up. You know where water seeks its own level. I have a feeling the water measurements will get out of whack.

I've actually plumb this in preparation for use with a Stenner dual head pump. But having heard it was kinda loud I thought about the genesis system.

I was debating on using the 100DMP5 (100 GPD @ 26RPM) vs. 170DMP5 (170GPD @ 44RPM). I think its the same it just spins faster.

Now I'm stuck where to go..stenner or genesis. ..

It will not work with 1/4" tubing. The 1/4" tubing will not allow it to drain fast enough nor will it allow it to fill fast enough. You need to fill the bin within 1 minute max and it needs sufficient size tubing to allow the overflow line and drain line to drain quick enough as well. I have the waste water metering bin drain several feet away to a drain line outside the house. The NSW bin is located outside in my shed and drains through the wall and several feet through a closet to my sump. As long as there is a slight downward grade from the bins to the target (sump or waste water line) then you will be fine as it will be able to siphon without issue. The higher up you have the bins the better in the case of a long drain run.

So I don't want to turn this into a stenner vs renew, but having read the above, what do people think? Stenner / Renew..

Having used both solutions, the Renew is by FAR better in every respect with exception to complexity of the install. The Stenner is a simple install however you won't have the same flow out of both heads as there is always a slight variance. The end result is that you will have a bit of salinity drift unless you can use a valve inline and get the flow dialed in between both heads identically. The flow rates will vary for a number of reasons including differences in the wear rates of the tubing between the two heads as well as head and draw pressure differences between the NSW side and the waste water side. The Renew is always precise as long as the metering bins are mounted level.

The Stenner is compartively slow where as the renew can change a gallon every 2-3 minutes.

The Stenner can only operate via a timed rate where you have to calculate how long it takes to change a gallon where as the Renew is based on gallons. The Renew can change out 1-99 gallons in one sequential run or daily or weekly. All of which is user selectable. If you have an emergency and need to change out a large volume of water or simply want to do a large water change, it's as simple as determining how much you want to change and pushing the buttons.

The Stenner pumps are very noisy. Like a coffee grinder. The Renew is virtually silent.

Hope that helps.

It really does and thank you very much!
In the above quote you say -level-....meaning that 'BOTH' buckets are at the same height? So you can't mount one at one height and the other at a different height?

When I say level, I mean that the metering bins are mounted level to the wall and not tilted. When I setup the Renew on my system as well as others, I use a level to insure the bins are vertically "plumb".

Ok..thank you so much...now I need to think more on how to run these hoses back and forth...ugh

Once you get it figured out and setup, you WILL absolutely love it!! I've had mine for a few years and installed a few for others and nothing compares for water changes. My system is pretty big and I change out 5 gallons a day but every now and then I will do a large continuous water change and I smile every time I do. I just set the display to 40 gallons, change it from daily to continuous and hit start. A few hours later, it's done and I don't have to lift a finger. You will not find a better solution and while the setup can be a bit complicated depending on where you have to mount things, it's worth the effort. I can promise you that!
