Genicanthus Angels?

Well im planning on getting a pair of Genicanthus.

My question is, should i keep the pair to the same type? Considering there are about 5 different types of them.

I only ask as because When it involves a male or female out of a specific type, one of the other is usually not as colorful.

Actually there are ten:

* Ornate angelfish, Genicanthus bellus Randall
* Zebra angelfish, Genicanthus caudovittatus
* Blackstriped angelfish, Lamarck's angelfish, Genicanthus lamarcki
* Spotbreast angelfish, Genicanthus melanospilos
* Masked angelfish, Genicanthus personatus
* Halfbanded angelfish, Genicanthus semicinctus
* Japanese swallow, Genicanthus semifasciatus
* Pitcairn angelfish, Genicanthus spinus
* Genicanthus takeuchii
* Blackedged angelfish, Genicanthus watanabei

and if you want to experience mating behavior (my Bellus pair mates often), I would suggest a male and female introduced at the same time. It is not always possible to have a male and female for several reasons, not the least of which is that males seem to ship less well. Sometimes a female will change into a male in the presence of a male. Coloration is the least of your worries. You may have a war with two species, I have never tried this, but I suspect you would.

Oh, by the way, these fish like to swim so a longer tank would be beneficial. These are not fish for a 100 gallon tank.

+1 one what Steve said. The only thing to add is that if you do decide to get two of these and they one day display spawning behavior, you will be in for a real treat!!!!

Yes, the spawning is magnificent. I have never tried to actually do anything with it though; I am simply not equipped.
