Hello all, i have a genx2400 and have two layers of enkamat 4 on it with no alterations to the impeller and i have a DIY silencer. Is there any other mod's i can do to this to draw more air? I'm thinking of adding another venturi on the other side so i have two. Would this be a bad idea?

When I get the AE 265 with what looks like clones of these Gen-X 2400 pumps, I will be looking at a couple things. One, the outlet diameter. If this can be increased (as well as the plumbing) the throughput shuold be increased. The venturi as well... Im thinking a control valve rather than a venturi.

You could just use a hole saw, cut your hole in the lower side and use a hack saw blade to tediously cut down the inner tube.

You can easily repair this hole using a piece of plastic and gluing it over the hole. As for how to lengthen the neck ... your best bet is to make a run to the hardware store with the collection cup in hand :) try and figure out a way to extend that sucker. I'm sure it's just a matter of finding the appropriate material/pipe/acrylic tube, chopping off the top and gluing it all back together the way you want.

Hahn ... you wouldn't happen to have a link handy for that pump would ya (the GX-clones)?

Thanks Randy! I figured i'd make a run to lowe's with the cup, i just with there were some scissors or something like that i could go through the top with to make the inside cut. Just not comfy to do the outside cut.

I know what you mean. I'd be racking my brain to keep from having to cut into the side too, but it's just a sure way. The the lower side of the skimmer is flat as can be which makes it simple to repair.

If you started with a small hole in the center to act as a guide hole, it would make it much easier and safer. A hole saw is also the cheapest and safest way to make a perfect slow cut.

I'm sure that there's a tool out there that would enable you to reach down into the neck and grind off that center tube, but I can't think of one right off hand.

Looks like i'll be making a trip to lowe's tomorrow.......Randy, what part of ind are you from?

North central IN ... just south of South Bend.

If you happen to know of a decent Ace Hardware, they have inexpensive yet high enough quality hole saws for around $3.00 You would likely find a package of hack saw blades in their bargain bin for just a buck or two.

I don't know if Lowes is that cheap or not. Funny thing is I was looking through the hole saws at Lowes just yesterday and I know I saw some for around $11.00 (1-1/2" higher quality hole saws). Ace is the place :)
